There are several means of constructing a wetroom. Each have some basic principles that must be observed;
The floor must be screeded, built from sturdy wooden sheets such as plywood or produced making use of a pre-made shower tray. In all cases there must be a steady slope to drop in the direction of a suitable shower outlet.
The structure needs to be strong without flexing, and any joints in the construction product have to be firm and well fitting.
The body of the shower outlet must be recessed or cast into the floor. The top of the flange is on a level or fractionally lower than the flooring surrounding it. There can be no step upwards right into the shower outlet.
Some tanking systems are not compatible for usage directly over traditional wood floorboards. These can be changed or covered with a sheet material such as plywood. A whole space or simply the shower area can be waterproofed. Safety glass can be established into the flooring and walls to develop a frameless display to the wet locations.
